What is the logic behind this solution? I understand the vertical line linking the two medians, but what about the rest?
I too want to know how they got that. I calculated the centroid the long way (breaking it into 2 triangles and a rectangle and averaging the centroids with respect to area) and I got 3 and 2/9 from the left, and 1 and 7/9 from the bottom (of the trapezoid), which looks like where it is here, but when I tried to make that point, it didn’t work. Though it’s hard to say if I actually hit the point I calculated (it took so many lines to zero in on 2/9 from each line).
You’re half way to locate the centroids of the trapezoid. You can got two centriods, say P&Q by breaking the trapezoid into 2 triangles. Since a trapezoid has 2 diagonals. You need locate the other 2 centriods(MN) as well. Connect PQ and MN. Done.
